Philadelphia
is a city where one really has to visit to know about American Independence and
its constitution history. There are so many places here which cater to the
appetite of a history buff. However, it is not all about history either. There
are fun zoos, gardens and also sports centers that you can visit. It is one of
the leading cities for baseball in the country.
A constitutionaltour of Philadelphia would not be complete without taking a little time out to learn about America's history. A trip to see the iconic Liberty Bell, a symbol of American independence, gives you a great feel for this proud nation. Independence Hall was the original home of the Liberty Bell and the location where the signing of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution took place. The area around the hall is home to a number a number of other historic buildings too, like the stunning Palomar Hotel.
Valley Forge National Historical Park
During the American Revolution War, this park was used as a winter camp
location for our soldiers. Recreations of the historical site as what it would
have looked like in the 1700s has been done here for the benefit of the many
people who visit here as an important tourist attraction of Philadelphia. Constitutional
walking tours of Philadelphia and ranger programs are available here year round
and it is a must visit place in Philadelphia.
A
Philadelphia Mural Art
It's
one of the things you can't help noticing when you are out and about in
Philadelphia, the fascinating street art. There are around 3000 murals that dot
the city today, a legacy from the 1980's scheme that was aimed at getting
graffiti artists to channel their spray cans in a more appropriate direction.
The scheme today is overseen by the Mural Arts Program and it's an excellent
way to get a feel for Philadelphia's more recent past.
Climb the
Rocky steps
It
wouldn't be a complete tour of the city without a trip to the famous steps
outside the Philadelphia Museum. The steps today feature a statue of Rocky
Balboa, often surrounded by fans of the film taking pictures. While there you
should pop into the museum too, it features a number of excellent exhibitions,
including mock-ups of Medieval cloisters and Japanese tea houses. The museum is
also home to a range of European and American art.
