The scheme today is overseen by the Mural Arts Program and it's an excellent way to get a feel for Philadelphia's more recent past.

Climb the Rocky steps
It wouldn't be a complete tour of the city without a trip to the famous steps outside the Philadelphia Museum. The steps today feature a statue of Rocky Balboa, often surrounded by fans of the film taking pictures. While there you should pop into the museum too, it features a number of excellent exhibitions, including mock-ups of Medieval cloisters and Japanese tea houses.
